The backtracks were done greatly for having the player explore the level layout. As for gameplay, try to avoid long stretches of emptiness by adding a few enemies; this will provide an even more fulfilling experience. Great level overall. Me likey!

This had the features I like about ghost houses and the features I don't. The core use of items is good (though not puzzling at all, as there's usually only one thing you can do at a given time, or an obvious path that has been opened). Still, I enjoyed the way it all fitted together. Nice secret exit, too. Someone who remembers it's there and understands the layout could quite easily work out how to get to it. Exemplary was the theme. Seriously, it was awesome. It wasn't just a plain old ghost house, it began with snow as you prepared to enter, and then there were underwater sections, and then an outdoor section with a cloud effect that fitted perfectly to emphasise the ghostliness.

Onto the stuff that I didn't like so much... namely, the enemy placement. It just wasn't very interesting, that's all. This type of enemy placement was fine in SMW where enemies and concepts were introduced to the player... but we've all played mario for many years, and I can say that I am very used to boos and boo clocks and boo streams. So if they aren't used in an inventive way, it kind of bores it a little. Especially if you die or make a stupid mistake forcing you to reset, and you have do lots of simple challenges again. It can be hard to make a backtrack-heavy level that also contains interesting challenges, without making it overly demanding of the player. But I would encourage you to make the enemy placement more interesting than it is here. Perhas you could compact it all as well, so there isn't quite so much sparse space to traverse? Btw, one thing that added some frustration is that you can get stuck below at x2400 without a springboard/ fire flower.

Solid level overall.

I liked the use of boos and the platforming challenges were exquisitely interesting. I loved the puzzles in this one, I won't spoil them for anyone who hasn't played it yet.
