  • Description: ~Music Maelstrom Galaxy | Star 1: Beat Block Gauntlet~
The beat blocks from Mario Galaxy 2 and 3D World return. I have become aware that TheTroll73 posted a level with a similar gimmick. I did not copy him, and he did not copy me. If you find the size intimidating, try setting a door to each entrance - SMF3 only allows you to place one checkpoint!

Welp, I'll admit this really is quite a level! And I also hate to admit that I myself couldn't even beat it ;-; therefore, thanks to the video link you've provided, I had the pleasure to enjoy the gameplay without playing it myself ;P Once more, the level is great in all aspects--the design, the scenery, the gameplay, the challenges, the unique concept of the switches--and it's one that's really hard to beat (pun kinda intended ;P). This level is one that truly tests your concentration and your focus. I really have nothing more to say. Great job, OT!

If I had to pick between any switcharoo-oriented level, I've found what I'm looking for. This takes the switch idea to a whole new level and it takes a real genius to conjure something like this -- hiding the switch gauntlet with foreground is not an idea to come across often. Everything from the platforming to the aesthetics was all really well executed. True but also heavily reliant on piranhas and parakoopas especially the latter as main enemy source. Perhaps a bit of variety could do, like hotheads or other formats of piranhas. I could see both options working without detracting from this particular theme. The visuals seemed touched up nice too, but you should allow for a pipe emersion at the checkpoint instead of normal spawn. In the previous section you entered a pipe. The other thing I'm not quite on board with is your usage of L2. I love scenery, you love scenery, everybody loves scenery. To have trees move along with the screen is weird tbh. You could argue the leaves should connect to something but that's what the L1 trees scenery is for. If the L2 scenery is really needed that badly, I'd say wooden pillars are a great alternative.

thats a hefty boy, proper introduction but... this type of level doesnt feel fitting for smf3 as the music may lign up, but the switches will always have a delay.

main thing i noticed was how much concentration this required; get ahead of yourself and you get punished.
gameplay was amazing and the visuals felt fitting and also went well with the gameplay.

make the cheatability easier though, the level is quite long and is separated into 4 sections, but cheating requires you to scroll all the way to the end.

Nice idea to hide the shell and block contraption using scenery.

I like how the block switch timing is slow at first but then gradually gets faster.

Really amazing how 2 users can use the same gimmick so differently!

The enemy placement is perfect and the level was filled with creativity. The advanced coins were placed well as well. The visuals were amazing too.

Seeing there are no actual issues with the level, I give the 100/100 this amazing level deserves.

This might be one of my favorite levels right now. I had to go into the level editor to see how you were able to pull off switching the blocks all the way through. I figured the shell would've despawned when the screen scrolled away.

The gameplay and environment was silky smooth, and the blocks switching was spot on.

Great Job Orangetack! I found nothing wrong.
The enemy placement is on point!
The unique gimmick of switching blocks is amazing and the gameplay is as smooth as a Pina Colada. The scenery and gameplay is just terrific. Nothing is even close to terrible for this level!
