The design is just as you said it is: a generic grassland adventure. There are no cutoffs, and there is some scenery, but ultimately there wasn't enough to stop the level from looking generic. There's so much you can do to make a grassland look good, like putting in trees, mushrooms inside the platforms, combining the two different grass tiles (SMW and retro), etc. etc. etc. In short, the design doesn't have any flaws to pinpoint, but doesn't have much originality to it.

Gameplay is lacking... I'm sorry, but I didn't really like the gameplay of this level. The main parts of this level was monotonous as it is, such that I don't really have much to discuss in terms of general gameplay. It's just dodge these enemies, then jump over this pit, then repeat.

There are, however, specific aspects of this level I want to address. First, the spring, which is ultimately unneeded in the entire level because all of the platforming is possible without it, but at the same time, the spring makes the level easier, and there wasn't much indication that you intended the player to take the spring, especially since it LOOKED as if taking the spring was unintended.

Secondly, there is a block that requires big Mario to get through. This isn't as big of a problem as with the spring, since powerups are easy to not lose. However, I still have to hold to hold you accountable for this, as a more impatient player, such as myself, would skip the powerups, since those take time to grab and the level as a whole provides a vibe that powerups wouldn't really be needed, which is not the case here.

Finally, the backtracking. It may seem creative, but ultimately is done a lot, and unfortunately didn't really add anything to this level. I don't mind the lack of CP here, but the backtracking just doesn't feel like there's any new ideas, but just the same old ones, making it play out in a monotonous way. While I don't think this level is bad, I do find this level underwhelming, so I'm only gonna give a low Silver/high Bronze rating.

Just as you said, a GGA. Needs a twist, or at least, some more liveliness.

Huh. So at first I was gonna ignore this level because a sixty amidst a bunch of 100s is not very good for my current state but I've blocked you so I should retain integrity with my rate. And it seems like I'm not the only one this time. So anyway the issues:

- Backtrack was pretty empty because a majority of the enemies were killable or facing the other way on return
This makes for rather boring gameplay for half the distance of the level

- There was no indication that you had to keep your powerup in order to hit the flip block which is pretty unfair

- The majority of the level was a tad bit repetitive.

The challenges are very good and interesting. The scenery is very nice but gameplay is just boring. I don't like the fact that to get the key you have to go through the whole stage and come back without any checkpoint. Good idea but not too well used. Opponents are also very boring.

to improve:

place checkpoints in levels;
opponents are boring;
challenges are repeated;

I like:

the idea that you need to get the key and go back to the beginning;
a lot of enemies.

I still encounter the occasional slope clip bugs but I won't hold that against you because the game's still a work in progress. You however don't need the green springboard to get to high ground but the backtracking was done well. Simple but fun setups and a good-looking layout. It's levels like this that get me hooked with the game!

Game Weirds 64 | 93/100

i love the challenges put in to the level
over all awesome scenery
tho you don't need a spring and the first section cause you can just jump on to the slope
and on to the other side
