• Description: Super Iggy Bros. - World 4-5: Golden Dust Countrysides

    Iggy heard a very weird sound of an aerial vehicle in the sky upon exiting Lirtha Megrand's fortress, but it's unclear where it comes from. But Iggy is no dum-dum, and knows the best way to know where it comes from and what it is, is to be brave and investigate for himself. So that's what he's gonna do! Go with Iggy through the big dunes of the desert, to maybe find an answer to what's going on with the sounds he thinks he heard... who knows, could it even be his friends? Only when he goes there we'll know!

    W4 is almost done now, wow! This world sure is feeling long really, specially because of the quarantine and my life issues... Anyways, this level is pretty much the same as most desert levels, so really I have no comment on it. It's fine.

    "First find the red mushy, then you'll get the green mushy!"

    I hope you enjoyed, and of course, feel free to give me your opinion. Also, you may have heard that on May 22nd, all the SMF games will be no longer available in the site, and SMF levels won't be able to be published anymore. However, Super Iggy Bros will still be finished completely in SMF1 and 3, it WON'T be remade on SMC, and it WON'T be cancelled after SMF is gone. It WILL be finished, no matter what. Very good level. After the last couple of smb remakes I played, this level feels like a refreshing new challenge. Excellent use of invisible blocks and obstacle courses though I gotta admit I was a bit weirded out by what was done to the ending lul.

Well, here i go with my review:

Voto numero 500! Y tal como me comprometí, es con un nivel tuyo y de SIB. El nivel estuvo bueno, creo que no fue muy novedoso o con cosas que no haya visto pero lo considero bien hecho estructuralmente, o al menos, para mi gusto.

Como sea, este nivel tiene mi aprobación.

Let's begin.

Overall gameplay wasn't particularly mindblowing, but it was still very good gameplay nonetheless. The hidden mushroom was missing a coin below it as indicator (though I guess then it wouldn't be very hidden). The lakitu offered a nice sense of rush as you run to not let it catch up, but the thwomp after that required waiting, which I'm not really a fan of. After that was just your typical enemies. The piranha jump seemed worryingly precise at first, but wasn't that bad, actually. The hidden block indicators were also nice. The spinies were just normal gameplay. The bonus coin section was nice, though a suggestion would be to make this bonus a requirement for keeping big Mario for the end (perhaps make the bottom normally pipe route too tight of a squeeze for bit Mario?). The koopas were the usual, and then nice fake flagpole. Onto the bonus zone.

Here, going left wasn't too bad, though I was expecting something more, like a ton of coins as well as many 1-ups, not just a single 1-up. It felt kind of anticlimactic. Sure, it may be a bit excess in terms of lives, but you're near the end in this case anyways, so I don't really think it would hurt. The hammer bros wasn't that hard, but the ending felt kind of weird. I kind of just floated in midair (may be more of a design problem than a gameplay problem), which looked rather weird. Overall, good job on gameplay.

I think the level overall was designed quite well. I liked the overall placement of the trees, bushes, cacti, fossils, and clouds (though the 2 clouds at X:1960 might look better if not touching). The entire space was filled up well, and at the same time, it doesn't look cramped. Usage of Tile 2 on the ground corners also added a nice touch of detail. The end does look a bit out of place, as I normally wouldn't expect airship tiles here. Since there is a hammer bros that could be a boss here, a simple axe would have been fine. As said earlier, the floating in midair after the finish seemed rather weird. Overall, the design was also a job well done.

Brilliant! You've done as much as you can with SMF1! I seriously think this is good, good challenges and design. Why is there tank tiling? Not taking off, just curious.
